DATE:
Sunday November 13
LOCATION:
Treetop Drive
DESCRIPTION:
More than a dozen fire departments responded to assist Kearsarge early Sunday morning at a fast moving wildland fire behind Treetop Drive in the Granada Apartments complex. The fire was dispatched around 5:15AM with Station 36 requested to assist about 10 minutes later. Heavy winds and terrain made it difficult for initial crews to contain the fire. As the incident progressed multiple other fire departments were requested to assist with engines, tankers, brush trucks and manpower. Several crews worked the incident from Treetop Drive while many others worked from Ponderosa Drive south of the incident. Tower 369 staged at Station 44 to cover other calls in the townshp. Several county departments also moved apparatus to help cover open stations. It took more than four hours to bring the blaze under control. Millcreek and PA State Police are investigating.
