DESCRIPTION:
Station 36 was requested to assist Brookside at a Sunday night structure fire with a RIT team. East Co. Communications reported a fire in the laundry room at University Gates Apartments. Bystandars removed clothing from a burning dryer in the University Gates Laundromat in front of the apartment building before the fire departments arrival. Deputy Chief Altadonna (370) was first on scene and reported a working fire. Chief 360 arrived just afterwards and assumed command. First in Engine 302 was assisted by the RIT crew from Rescue 368 in knocking down the flames. Due to Rescue 368 arriving second in their assignment changed to suppression. Truck 249 aided in checking for extension above the ceiling and behind the dryer. The laundromat and an adjacent rental office needed to be vented. A pizza shop at the far end of the structure was not effected. Crews from Engines 304 and 683 level 1 staged. Deputy Chief 250 arrived later into the incident and command was transferred to him. There were no injuries
