Engine Responds with Station 44 to Lightning Strike

DESCRIPTION:
Station 44 was dispatched to an investigation for a possible lightning strike early Sunday morning as a severe thunderstorm swept through the area. A few minutes later the full alarm assignment was dispatched for a structure fire. First arriving units reported smoke showing from the roof and found a working fire in the attic. Handlines were stretched by crews from Engine 442 and Engine 362 and made a quick knockdown. The truck crew vented the roof while other arriving apparatus assisted in checking for extension and overhaul. One BVFD firefighter was treated at the scene for dehydration. There were no other injuries. Two people home at the time of the lightning strike escaped safely.
