Over a dozen families were evacuated from their homes just after 8pm Thursday when a natural gas line was ruptured by a backhoe from concrete contractor. The contractor was digging a hole for a new drain when the backhoe hit the gas pipe. Crews from Engine 363 and Truck 369X evacuated area homes as a precaution until National Fuel Gas could get the line shut down nearly an hour later. One person was taken to the hospital by Millcreek Paramedics after feeling ill from the odor.
