Structure Fire with Line of Duty Death

LOCATION: Port Erie Plastics - Troup Rd
DESCRIPTION: Engine 31 and Tower 30 were special called to Port Erie Plastics for a working structure fire. The fire started outside on a loading dock full of wooden and plastic pallets. The fire extended into the north wall of the building. The initial command officer was fatally injured when a malfunction in an aerial truck occured. Go to the news page for more information. The fire was under control in just over ah hour. Engine 31 & Tower 30 crews worked together to open the exterior of the building from ground level and from the roof line. The main body of fire was contained to the exterior of the structure. There was some interior fire, smoke & water damage. Several crews from eastern Erie county as well as Millcreek were on the scene. An investigation to the cause of the fire and the fatality are under way.
