Strip Mall Structure Fire
TYPE: Structure Fire - Mutual Aid to Brookside
DATE: March 8th
LOCATION: Eastway Plaza - Buffalo Rd
DESCRIPTION: BVFD crews responded to the mostly abandoned Eastway Plaza early Saturday morning on the report of smoke coming from one of the empty stores. First in units encountered heavy smoke conditions coming from at least 2 storefronts. Crews made entry and found a fire burning in a back room of one of the stores. A quick knockdown was made but an extensive amount of searching for extension and overhaul was needed. Engine 32's crew assisted in looking for hidden fire and overhaul while Tower 30's crew went to the roof to investigate. BVFD crews were back in service with-in a couple hours. The State Police were called to the scene. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation.
