BVFD Installs MDT's To Apparatus (Pictures)
Belle Valley FD has added a new tool to its apparatus. Mobile data terminals (MDT's) were recently installed into three of the rigs. The MDT's, which cost over $7000 each, were purchased with funds from a federal grant.

MDT Screen
The MDT's will provide the firefighters with a ton of information at their fingertips while responding to a call. The information on the computers will include digital mapping, building pre-plans & photographs, vehicle extrication assistance, haz mat information and hydrant/water supply locations. One of the computers include a responding/on scene camera and DVR unit. Some time in the future the MDT's will be able to recieve information directly from the county dispatch center. As stated the information is at the firefighters fingertips, literally. All the MDT's have touch screen monitors.

MDT in Engine 363
The three rigs that the MDT's were installed into include Engine 362, Engine 363 and Rescue 368. The new tower 369 will have one when it's delivered later this year. Another grant request has been made for an additional MDT for Truck 367.
The units were bought from Acura Embedded Systems out of British Columbia, Canada.
