Who ever thought it would happen?
Who ever thought it could happen?
But one year ago, June 30th, 2009, it did happen!
Mill Creek ran over its banks and flooded seveal homes and business in the Belle Valley community. The hardest hit building was our building, the Belle Valley Fire Department.

The day started out with a call due to the heavy rain around 5:30 AM. By 9:30 we had already run several weather related calls. Around 10:00 a fire alarm sent us out of the building again only this time when we returned there was nearly five feet of water in the firehouse. The rain stayed until mid afternoon causing flooding throughout our community. Twenty five rescues were made that day. Not a single call went unanswered.

After the waters receeded nearly 100 firefighters from departments throughout the county came to Station 36 to help begin the clean up. People remained at the firehouse until after 1:00AM.

Damage was extensive. We lost basiclly everything under 6 feet off the floor. More than $600,000 in damage occurred. Fire equipment, computers, furniture, records, entertainment equipment, training supplies. You name it, we lost it.

One year later we are back to normal. A flood couldnt take us down. We are stronger because of it. We are your "Protectors of the Valley".
