BVFD Awarded AFG Grant
The Belle Valley FD has been awarded a grant from the federally funded Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. We were notified last week with the official announcement made on Friday February 19th. This grant was in the equipment category and is worth $27,500.
The grant money will be used to purchase a new thermal imaging camera and three mobile data terminals (MDT). A diesel exhaust ventilation system for the apparatus bays was turned down by the AFG committee.
The thermal imaging camera will be assigned to an engine company when it arrives. This will be the second TIC that Station 36 will utilize.
The MDT's will provide valuable information to the crews as they are responding to or on scene of an incident. Placement for these units have not been determined yet.
A grant request for the rebuild of Engne 362 is still in contention. Hopefully good news about that request is forthcoming.
