New Hurst Tool Equipment Arrives

April 7, 2008 | News

On Monday the new Hurst equipment that was recently ordered arrived. The new equipment was purchased from funds we received from a state grant. The new tools delivered include:

  • MOC 2 Cutter
  • MINI-LITE System
    • Hand Pump
    • Spreader
    • 8" Ram
    • 10" Ram
    • Mini Lite Cutter
  • Mini Cutter (brake pedal cutter)
  • Ram Extension Kit
  • Honda Portable Hurst generator

The MOC 2 cutter replaces the original cutter purchased back in 1986. The MOC 2 can cut through stronger metals used in todays vehicles and machinery that the old one cannot cut through. The old cutter along with the first combo tool we purchased several years ago will go in service with the new portable generator on an undetermined rig.

The Mini-Lite System (hand pump, cutters, spreaders & rams) will be stored on Rescue 38. We are the only department in the area that has the mini lite system. These tools can be used in area where space is very limited.

The ram extension kit will be used with our existing two sets of rams. They will also be kept on Rescue 38.

We are very fortunate to have this new equipment. Training will begin this week. The tools should be placed in service very soon.

The equipment was purchased through the Fire Station Resource Center. Thanks to Pat and his staff for all their assistance.

Also recently delivered were step chocks. Two sets of two chocks were purchased through another grant. Step chocks are used to stabilize vehicles. One set is regualr size and can be used for most passenger cars, vans, trucks and SUV's. The second set is used for larger vehicles such as tractor trailers and buses.

These were purcahsed through ESI. Special thanks to Marv Waxham.
